Marie A. Ablett passed away at the age of 91 in the Boone County Hospital, on September 9, 2008, of a short illness.
Marie was born on May 29, 1917 in Hendricks, Minnesota to Frank and Bertha (Burger) Luhmann. She was united in marriage to Glenn L. Ablett in Hendricks, Minnesota on December 24, 1935. Marie spent her married life in Lohrville, Iowa and Boone, Iowa. The last five years of her life were spent residing at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa.
Marie was a past Worth Matron and 50-year member of the Order of Eastern. She belonged to several bridge clubs that were the biggest passion of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn, of the Eastern Star Home in Boone; a daughter, Connie (Glen) Capps, of Boone; a son Keith (Dee) Ablett of Iowa City and a sister, Margaret Earwood, of Roseburg, Oregon. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Cindy (Jay) Eckhart, of Boone; Linda (Randy) Williams of Kaysville, Utah; Desi (Joe) Sexton of Iowa City and Angi (Justin) Rios of Iowa City. Also eight great-grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Kelly Eckhart, Korey Williams, Michael Eckhart, Tavian Noard, Blaize Noard, Elise Rios, Henry Sexton and several nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Kay Francis, a granddaughter, Wendy Dee Capps; sisters Gertrude Walter and Francis King and brother-in-laws Verne King, Frank Walter and Don Earwood.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Eastern Star Home in Boone. Burial will be at a later date in Lohrville, Iowa. Memorials may be given to the Eastern Star Home in lieu of flowers.
