Kenneth Carlson, 98, of 1213 - 110th in Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa on Monday morning, September 29, 2008
He was born on January 20, 1910, north of Stratford, Iowa the son of Francis and Elsie (Linn) Carlson.
On February 27, 1929, he married Fern Patterson at the Patterson homestead, near Stratford.
Kenneth farmed throughout his life in addition to working at ISU, at the HUB, for the maintenance department until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting clocks and fishing in Minnesota and Arkansas.
He was a member of the South Marion United Methodist Church in Stratford; the Stratford Lion's Club for nearly 60 years and served on the CO-OP Elevator Board.
His parents, wife Fern in July of 1995, 2 infant daughters, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 great-grandson and 3 brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include 3 daughters; Dorothy Anderson and husband Marlyn, Pat Westrum and husband Dale, and Karen Williams and husband LeRoy all of Stratford, Iowa; 1 son Jim Carlson and wife Sherry of Boone; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday afternoon, October 3rd, at 1:30 p.m. at the South Marion United Methodist Church south of Stratford with Pastors Gina Spohnheimer and Remigo Panlaqui officiating.
Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery southeast of Stratford.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Home in Stratford on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when the casket will be taken to the Church where visitations will continue from Noon until the time of service.
The family will be present on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.
