Mildred "Milly" Neel, age 86, of Boone and the Evangelical Free Church Home died October 28, 2008, at the Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 31, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Milly was born on December 31, 1921, in Boone County the daughter of Dewey and Leora (McCoy) Pepper. She graduated from Jordan Consolidated School and attended the nursing program at Woodward State Hospital in Woodward. On September 21, 1952, Milly married James Neel at Papillion, Nebraska. Milly was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Woodward State Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and interior decorating. Milly was dedicated to her children and her work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Robert Shaw, and a brother Paul Pepper. Milly is survived by a daughter Paula Myers of Clovis, New Mexico; a daughter-in-law Jean Shaw of Boone; a sister-in-law Charlene Pepper of Ogden; 7 grandchildren: Robert Shaw of Biloxi, Missippi, Ronnie (Kim) Williams and Steve Williams all of Boone, Lori Shaw of Stanhope, Scott (Kayla) Myers of Mt. Pleasant, Dennis (Cindi) Myers of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Kimberly (Matt) Matlock of Clovis, New Mexico; and 7 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
