G. E. WESTBERG, 64, DIES AT HOSPITAL
G.E. (Espe) Westberg, 64, chief clerk to the division superintendent of the Chicago North Western railroad in Boone, died at midnight Thursday following a brief illness.  He was taken to the Boone County hospital at noon Wednesday after being taken ill at his home at 516 5th street.  Born in Boone on Sept. 5, 1889, Mr. Westberg started his 48 year career on the Chicago North Western railroad in this city on Sept 1, 1905 as a, messenger and clerk.  On May 5, 1916 Mr. Westberg was promoted to chief clerk at Belle Plaine.  On May 8, 1921 Mr. Westberg returned to Boone as chief clerk to the superintendent and has remained in that capacity until his death.  He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Frank S. O’connor of Iowa City, and a son, William of Klenne, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar L. Anderson and Mrs. Martin Olson, both of Boone and Mrs. Gertrude Fitch of Des Moines and one brother, Hilbert of Minneapolis, and one granddaughter, Kathy O’Connor.  The Welin chapel has charge of the services.  Funeral services will be held on 1:30 o’clock Monday afternoon from the Augustana Lutheran church with the Rev. Einar Oberg in charge.  Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery.  The remains will be taken to the church Monday morning.
