Dell Wright, 86, formerly of 105 South Boone Street passed away at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa on Friday evening, December 5, 2008. In May of this year, the couple moved into the residential area of the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
He was born on September 17, 1922 in Guthrie Center, Iowa the son of Ewing and Blanche (Rising) Wright.
On July 26, 1944, he married Wilma Myers at Guthrie Center, Iowa.
Dell graduated from the Guthrie Center High School and attended electrical trade school to further his electrical skills.
He worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power in Guthrie Center until 1954 when he was transferred to the Boone office. Dell later started his own electrical business, Wright Electric, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed family camping trips, fishing and in his retirement years, playing golf.
Dell was a member of the Central Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon, and for a number of years, was a member of the Lion's Club in Boone.
His parents, a son Eldon in 1967, a daughter Linda in 1999, 5 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Wilma of Boone; a daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Maurice Erickson of Boone; 2 granddaughters Monica Crook and husband Brian of Boone and Misty Aguilera of Killeen, Texas; 4 great-grandchildren Jakob and Tyler Crook both of Boone and Carlos and Paco Aguilera both of Killeen, Texas; 3 brothers Dean Wright of Guthrie Center, Iowa and Roland Wright of Arizona and Keith Wright of California; numerous nieces and nephews.
The body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday morning, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Christian Church in Boone with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating.
Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center, Iowa.
Friends may call at the Central Christian Church prior to the memorial service on Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their memorial gift to the family for a memorial to be selected at a later date.
