Larry Dean Bennett, age 63, of 1221 Tama Street, died Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Friends may call Monday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Private family services are Tuesday at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating. Following the service, his body will be cremated.
Larry was born in Forest City on March 23, 1945, the son of Roy and Teresa (Bouekholt) Bennett. He had lived in Boone most of his life. On October 8, 1966, Larry married Sandra Pleuss in Boone. He was employed as a molder at Quinn Machine and Foundry for over 37 years, retiring in October of 2004. Larry enjoyed collecting scrap metal, playing cards, bowling, recycling, dining out, and working at Quinn's.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gorden Bennett, and a sister, Beverly Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Boone; two daughters, Martha Bennett and Jennifer Scott and her son, Zackery, all of Boone; a brother, Roy Bennett of Des Moines; and two sisters, Doris Lauer of Illinois and Joan Broer of North Dakota.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
