FUNERAL PIONEER RESIDENT FRIDAY

Last Rites for Milton W. Grisby Held at the U. B. Church on Friday Afternoon

Deceased Passed Away at Age of 78 Years - Spent Entire Life in Madrid Community

The funeral services for M. W. Grigsby, a life long resident of the Madrid vicinity, were held Friday afternoon from the U. B. church south of this community, with Dr. Clarence Defur in charge. Interment was made in the U. B. cemetery.
The deceased passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17th at the hospital in Clarinda, Iowa, where he had been for some little time. He was about 78 years old.
The pallbearers were: Neil Grigsby, Dave Grigsby, Sam Bryant, Basil Pierce, Frank Boganwright, and Will Wylie.
Milton W. Grisby was born on May 8, 1856, the son of Cornelius and Margaret Grigsby. His entire boyhood days were spent on what is known as the Thompson farm just south of the U. B. church. In the year 1873 he was married to Miss Rebecca E. Pierce, and to this union were born two sons, Everett and Cornelius, and one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Johnson, who with her mother preceded Mr. Grigsby in death. Mr. Grigsby moved to the Pierce Grove community after his marriage, where he has lived his entire life. He was a respected farmer in his community and one which had the friendship of many.
He is survived by his two sons, Everett and Cornelius, both of this community, one brother, Geroge W. Grigsby of Canada, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Allen of Madrid, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The deceased had been in failing health for some time but his condition did not become serious until about six weeks ago.
