Selma C. Olson, daughter of John and Caroline Anderson, was born in Madrid, Boone County, Iowa, Nov. 19, 1878 and died Feb. 2 1891 at the age of 102 years and 2 months. She spent her early life on a farm 3 miles NW of Madrid. After the death of her husband in 1955 she moved to Madrid. In 1976 she entered the Madrid Home of the Aging where she remained until her death.
She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters also 5 half brothers and 4 half sisters.
She married Menes Olson on April 17, 1901 and to this union were born 8 children Irene McGeeney, Verna Steight, Edmond Olson, Pearl Johnson, Irma Ringgenberg, Harold Olson, Raymond Olson and Vivian Kimrey.
Two children preceded her in death Irene McGeeney and Harold Olson, 2 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She leaves to mourn 6 children, 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, Also one sister Esther Grant of Hawthorne, Calif. and one brother Arthor Anderson of Council Bluffs.
She was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was baptized Dec. 11, 1878, and confirmed May 21, 1893. Her father was a charter member. She was a charter member of the Friendly Neighbor Club.
She was a loving and kind mother and friend. Her home was always welcome to family and friends. She loved children and enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She seemed happiest when her family could all be together.
She was laid to rest beside her husband at Fairview Cemetery in Madrid close to the home where he was born.
She leaves to mourn her passing her family, many relatives and friends.
