Helen Moffet, 88 of Ogden, Iowa, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone Iowa.
Helen Morrison was born on November 5, 1919, in Butler Iowa, the daughter of James and Viola (Pfander)Morrison. She graduated with the Hedrick High School Class of 1937. Helen was united in marriage to Lemuel O. Moffet on September 9, 1945, in Ottumwa Iowa. While in Ottumwa, Helen worked at Rucker's Hatchery, J.C. Penny's and Ottumwa Iron Works. She was also bookkeeper for the family businesses, M&M Refrigeration in Ottumwa and Hedrick Liberty Hardward in Hedrick. She later became employed by the Ottumwa Hospital until retiring in 1981. In 1989 Helen and Lemuel moved to Ogden. Lemuel passed away on June 27, 1998. Helen continued to maintain her home in Ogden until moving to the Ogden Manor and then the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.
Helen Belonged to the Hedrick Presbyterian Church and after marriage joined the Westminster Prebyterian Church in Ottumwa. She was ordained a Deacon in 1960. Helen was a charter member of the Ollepaw Chapter of American Business Women.
Survivors include her daughters, Eva Ruther of Ogden, Iowa and Barbara North of Odessa Texas; sons, Edwin (Ellen) Moffet of Junction City, Oregon, Alvin (Kathy)Moffet of Boone,Iowa, and Daniel (Sandra) Moffet of North Ogden, Utah; 11 grandchildren;many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents;her husband Lemuel Moffet, brother, Harold Morrison, and a brother in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be left to the Westminster Presbyterian Church. 1901 West Second Street, Ottumwa Iowa 52501.
