David Lee Rose, age 70, of Minneapolis, MN passed away January 25, 2008.
He was born in Boone on June 27, 1937 to Nancy and Roscoe Rose. David grew up in Boone and attended Boone High School.
After high school he attended Boone Junior College, worked as an orderly in the Boone County Hospital and went to work at the National Animal Disease Lab in 1960 working in bovine mastitis. He attended Iowa State University on a part time basis and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Bacteriology. In 1970 he went to work in Walter Reed Army Institute of Research working with mycoplasma. In 1975 he went to the National Institute of Health working for Allergy and Infectious Diseases with mycoplasma. He retired in 1993 with 32 years of service having published 95 papers.
He was a charter member of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology. He moved to San Antonio, TX where he worked at the Health Science Center in San Antonio for eight and a half years before moving to Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother James, sister Norma who died in infancy and sister Nancy. He is survived by sister Betty Bigelbach of Minneapolis, sister-in-law Marcella Rose of Oceanside, CA, nephews Michael Bigelback of Woodbury, MN and David (Gaynor) Bigelbach of Shirley, MA and James (Tonya) Rose of Jackson, WY nieces, Nana Rose of St. Joseph, MO, Patricia (Bruce) Brink, of Kansas, MO, Bobbi (Steve) Giannell, of Oceanside, CA, Sandra Noskowiak, of Ramona, CA and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Private services are pending. Memorials preferred to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
