Obituary.
Maria Lovisa [sic] Hagaleen was born in Horns Socken Ostergotland, Sweden on February 8, 1862. Her parents Jonas P. and Maria Kristina Hagaleen had her baptized as an infant and later on confirmed in the State Lutheran church of Sweden. In October 1885 they all arrived in Ogden from Sweden where they resided until their death.

On December 17, 1887 she was married to Gust Asklund at Boone. They were blessed with six children, one preceding them in death; namely, Carl. Mr. Asklund passed away last Christmas time, on December 18th at the age of nearly 83 years and after being married 57 years. The other five surviving children are: Harry of Boxholm, Elmer of Missouri Valley, Mrs. Lillian Higgins of Huron, South Dakota, Victor and Glen of Ogden. A brother, Eric Hagaleen of Ogden, also survives.

Three years ago Mrs. Asklund fell down the stairway and broke her hip. From then on she has been failing. She just had a good strong case of "flu" recently which was too much for her, and it developed into pneumonia which proved fatal last Monday, April 23rd at 3 p.m. At the time of her death she was 83 years, 2 months and 15 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her five chlidren [sic], 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends. She looked forward to the monthly visits of the pastor and enjoyed to hear the Word of God read and have prayer. Of late she was longing to go to her heavenly home and looked forward to that day. May God bless the memory of our departed friend upon the lives of all of us to live such lives that we too may be ready to meet our Lord.
