ORVIE SAVITS A VICTIM
OF THE GRIM REAPER

Deceased Had Been in the Best of
Health for Several Years, and His
Death Came As a Great Shock to
His Family and Many Friends

Orvie E. Savits, a former Ogden boy and for many years a resident of this vicinity and a son of Mrs. E. Savits of this town, passed away at his home near Greely, Colo., Tuesday evening December 23rd.

The body arrived here Saturday, December 27th, accompanied by his wife and son and was taken to the Home Undertaking parlors. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, Rev. O. W. Morrow officiating. Interment was made in Glenwood cemetery.

Mr. Savits' death came as a decided shock and surprise to his family and other relatives and friends. The past several years has found him in unusual good health. On the evening just prior to his death while sitting in his farm home conversing with his family regarding his relatives and others in Iowa, as was his custom before retiring he went to the barn to see that all was well. Upon his failure to reappear in due time his wife made an investigation with the result that she found him dead.

Orvis E. Savits was born at Ogden, Iowa, May 28, 1869, and died at his home near Greely, Colo., Dec. 23, 1919. He grew to manhood in this vicinity. Later he spent several years at Adams, Nebr., where he was united in marriage with Miss Daisy Smith, on Dec. 23, 1890. To this union four children were born, three of whom died in infancy. Returning to Ogden from Nebraska, he resided here a short time before going to Colorado nineteen years ago. Those left to mourn his untimely death are his wife, son, Eldon Savits, mother, Mrs. E. Savits, of Des Moines, sisters, Mrs. T.E. Barnes, of Grand Junction, Mrs. Geo. Ridenour of Lake City; Mrs. William Adams of Des Moines; Mrs. A.E. Day, of Greely, Colo.; one brother, L. Savits, of this place, and one half brother, Casper Savits, of North Platte, Nebr.
