Laborn Wisecup son of Jacob and Elizabeth Wisecup was born in Marcy Township, Boone county Iowa May 11, 1847 and passed away at his home in Marcy township Feb 1, 1937 Aged 79Y 8M and 20 days.
He grew up in Marcy township and was married to Miss Eliza Olive Cunningham May 13, 1877. To this Marriage was ten children. Four died in childhood-namely Gilbert, Rosie,Walton and Vernon and a daughter Mrs Lillie Bundy was killed by lightning Apr 21, 1917.
Mr Wisecup was known to most everyone in Marcy township. It was necessary to know him to well appreciate him. He was a great worker, was reliable and fair in all his dealings and with him a verbal as well as written contract was a sacred obligation. He had an unusual determination and in anything that he might undertake spared no effort to accomplish it. This disposition was an inheritance from his father.
Laborn will be missed in his community. He was unselfish and thought more of the welfare of others than his own. He enjoyed social contact and was a great visitor. He was very active in community affairs when he was able. He was converted in Feb 1893 and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a good neighbor,husband and father.
He leaves to his departure, four sons and one daughter. Ivan And Bryan at home, Robert of Hamilton county Iowa,Lester of Cass Township,
Boone County Iowa,and Mrs Goldie Ives of Boone.
One brother-Jacob Wisecup of Boone county and 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many friends.
Flower girls were Faye Stumbo, Mary Oviatt, Rosemond Stumbo, And Eva Grady. Pall Bearers were Torence Wisecup, Howard wisecup, Kenneth Gilbert and Keith Grady. Honorary Pall Bearers were Archie,Ray,Paul,Jerald,Wilson & Lloyd Wisecup. Music was provided by a quartet composed of Mrs Ralph Gilbert, Mrs P.N. Longshore, C.W. Staker and Roy Gordon with Patience Lewiston as Accompanist.
