Ruby Lucille Wagaman, 88, a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, formerly of rural Luther, passed from this life on Friday, December 2, 2005 at Boone County Hospital in Boone.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service to honor Ruby's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 8, in The Chapel at the Eastern Star Masonic Home located at 715 W. 3rd Street, in Boone. Private committal services will take place at Squire Boone Cemetery, northwest of Luther. The Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby was born on April 25, 1917 to Clifford H. and Grace Cartwright Gildea in Luther, Iowa. She was a graduate of Luther Consolidated School. On Christmas Day, December 25, 1936, Ruby married Frederick Phillip Wagaman in Luther, where they made their home. For several years, Ruby assisted her husband at the former Wagaman Insurance Agency in Madrid, which they owned and operated from 1959 until 1976. She was also a homemaker all of her life.

Ruby was very active with the Madrid P.E.O. - Chapter ID, and the United Methodist Women's Society. She had participated with her husband in various levels of activity in promoting and singing barbershop quartet and chorus. Ruby was a member of the former Luther United Methodist Church, a former member of the Napier United Methodist Church in Ames, and most currently a member of the Marion Street United Methodist Church in Boone. She also was a member of the Brush and Palette Club in Boone for several years.

Ruby loved working around her home, where she was a master of many arts. She was a gifted seamstress and loved to sew for her family and friends. Other special interests in Ruby's life were her love of gardening, painting, and singing. She could literally spend endless hours in her beautiful garden. Most of all, Ruby loved spending time with her family and friends; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Robert Wagaman and his wife Camille of rural Luther; one granddaughter, Chelsea Wagaman of Des Moines; nieces and nephews including, Linda Pennington and her family of Polk City, Bill Shreve and Ron Shreve and their families all of Luther; and a host of many friends.

Ruby was preceded into eternal life by her husband, Fred on October 2, 2001; and her sister, Louise Shreve.

Memorials may be made to either: Napier United Methodist Church, R.R. #3, Ames, IA 50014 or Marion Street United Methodist Church, 717 W. 5th Street, Boone, IA 50036.
