Ruth E. Brown, 92, of Boone and the Evangelical Free Church of Boone since September of 1999, died Wednesday at the Evangelical Free Church Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone with the Rev. Lindsay Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone.

She was born June 10, 1912, in Boone, to George and Eva Marie (Smith) Gathman. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Boone High School. On June 14, 1931, she married Arthur Brown in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone.

She was a homemaker. She worked in her father's grocery store for many years and after the store closed, she worked as a custodian for the Trinity Lutheran Church for several years.

Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone, the Women's Guild, Bible Class and also the Fellowship Club and more groups in her church. She was also a member of the Boone County Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Irene E. Dawdy. Survivors include a son, Arthur Brown of Boone; a sister, Lillian M. Hardman of Stratford; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone.

Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets, Boone, was in charge of the arrangements.
