Ruth Irene Greenfield, 87, of Riverside, Calif., formerly of Boone, died on Monday at Riverside.

She had been a resident at Riverside, Calif., for more than three years. There will be a memorial service at Sunrise Village in Riverside, Calif., and at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, there will be a local graveside memorial service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Boone. Friends are invited to attend the service.

Ruth was a life-long resident of Boone where she was self-employed as a wallpaper hanger. She provided her wallpaper hanging services for many private residences, commercial buildings and she was contracted to paper the birthplace of Mamie Doud Eisenhower. She was the eldest of nine children born to Edward and Lillie Dailey of Boone.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Francis; both parents; a brother Donald Dailey; and sisters Mildred Staker and Belva Kester. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Elizabeth Greenfield; one daughter, Phyllis Greenfield Wicker; three grandchildren, Stacy Shafer and her husband Keith, Scott Greenfield and Stephanie Greenfield; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Kyle and Shane Shafer, and Michael and Tiffany Delahunt; a great-great-grandchild Amber Shafer; three sisters, Bernice Bergloff, Eileen Siders and Marjorie McLaughlin; two brothers, Archie Dailey and Leonard Dailey; and numerous relatives and friends.
