Ruth L. Johnson, 96, of Ogden, Iowa, died Friday, October 7, 2005, at the Madrid Home, Madrid, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden, Iowa. Rev. Carla Werre will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Ogden, Iowa.

Visitation will also be Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Ruth L. Johnson was born on March 27, 1909, in Grant, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (Conrad) Stinemates. She graduated with the Grant High School Class of 1927 and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Following her education she taught Home Economics. Ruth was united in marriage to Jewell F. Johnson on July 20, 1931, in Grant, Iowa. The couple established their home in Ogden in the late 1940's. Jewell passed away in 1956.

Ruth moved to the Madrid home in September of 2001.

Ruth was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Past Matron. Ruth was a founding member of the Ogden Scholarship and Loan Foundation.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Z. and Barbara Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy A. and Wally Anderson of Boxford, Massachusetts, and Mary M. and Richard Kvitek of Chaska, Minnesota; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Slemmons of Green Valley, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jewell F. Johnson; a brother in infancy; and a sister, Helen Lischer.

Memorials may be directed to the Ogden Scholarship and Loan Foundation.
