Robert LeRoy Mitchell, 58, of Odgen, died Tuesday, March 6, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, due to heart failure. He was born April 5, 1942, in Leon, the son of Dave and Minnie (Fairchild) Mitchell. He graduated with the Lamoni High School class of 1962. He married Lorena Willet July 17, 1965, at Lamoni College, Lamoni.

After their marriage, the couple moved to Woodward. He worked at the Woodward State Hospital as a dairyman, and also in the laundry department. He later became a truck driver for the hospital until retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, and his paper route.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one sister; and two brother-in-laws. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rodney, of Ogden, and Rickey, and his wife, Bev, of Boone; a daughter, Tammy Moore, and her husband, David, of Boone; four grandchildren, James Moore, Cory Moore, Nikki Moore, and Jesse Mitchell, all of Boone; two sisters, Sharon Kirk, of Maquoketa, and Jean Mitchell, of Mason City; two brothers, David Mitchell, and his wife, Judy, of Martensdale, and Bill Mitchell, and his wife, Verla, of Sevierville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Carson Funeral Home in Ogden, with the Rev. Verlin Akins officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Carson Funeral Home. Burial of ashes will be at the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.

Memorials may be give to the family.
