June "Bug" Sherman, 64, 815 18th St., Boone, died Monday at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, of cancer. She was born July 3, 1936, in Iowa City, the daughter of Louie and Meta (Rickles) Zimmerman.

She was raised on a farm in Anamosa and lived in Cedar Rapids, where she worked as a waitress. She also worked as a traffic marketer in Stanhope and moved to Boone in 1978. Her hobbies included fishing, playing bingo, and bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kenna and Gene Rickles of Scotch Grove; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley Mae Zimmerman of Boone, and Alice and Rod Rieken of Kirksville, Mo.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

The body has been cremated.

Memorial services were held Friday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. David Burling officiating. Disposition of the cremains will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
