Wallace A. VanderMark, 83, a resident of the Ogden Manor nursing home and formerly of Boone and the Ledges Manor nursing home, died Thursday at Ogden Manor, where he had been a resident since February of 2001. He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Garatin, SD, the son of Joseph E. and Marie (Kellogg) VanderMark.

He worked on highway construction with Hallett Materials Company paving unit in Boone, from 1951 to 1972, when he retired. He then worked in the maintenance department at Iowa State University from 1972 to 1983 when he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Cyrus VanderMark.

The body will be cremated following visitation Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Ogden Manor nursing home activity room. Burial of the cremains will be held at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone at a later date.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Aviary Fund at Ogden Manor nursing home.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
