Hazel Stark Veale, 95, formerly of 623 Mamie Eisenhower Ave., Boone, died at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone Friday of respiratory complications. She had been a resident at the Eastern Star Home since July of 1981. She was born Oct. 29, 1907, in Boone, the daughter of Charles E. and Amanda (Nelson) Clark. On July 3, 1926, she married Walter W. Stark at Boone. Walter died in August of 1975. On Sept. 17, 1980, she married Raymond A. Veale at the Central Christian Church in Boone.
She was a homemaker and a clerk for a number of years at the Boone Super Value Store. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star Magi Chapter 139 and the White Shrine, all in Boone.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter; second husband, Raymond, in April of 1981; a son, Walter W. Stark, Jr., in September 1993; and a granddaughter, Trudy Eggleston, in July of 1968. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Eggleston, and her husband, Tom, of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Mike Eggleston and his wife, Becky, of Ankeny, Susan Grout and her husband, Jamie, of Cedar Falls, and Walter W. Stark III of Bonaire, Netherlands, Antilles; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Coats, Cedar Rapids.
Graveside services, with interment to follow, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Franklin officiating. The family requests that memorials be given to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
