Randy Walker, 48, of 607 Jefferson Street, Boone, died at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to heart failure. He was born in Boone on June 21, 1953, the son of Fyrman and Betty (Majors) Walker. He lived in Boone all his life. He married Lorraine Davis in Boone on October 16, 1982.
He was presently employed at Iowa State University as a storekeeper where he had been employed for 20 years. He was involved with the Boone Little League for many years and presently was assistant coach for the Boys Major League Dodgers. His hobbies included collecting toy cars, hunting and fishing, attending auctions and mushroom hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his life; his mother, Betty Loehrer of Boone; a son, Kyle; a daughter, Katie, both at home; a brother,Rick Walker of Boone; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Sam Hernandez of Fort Collins, Colo., and Kathy and Paul Heitkamp of Malvern; and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday at the funeral chapel from noon until 9 p.m. where family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until time of service. Funeral services will be held today at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, 6th and Marshall streets, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Herbert Foxworthy officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
