Arlene C. Clausen, 80, Boxholm, died Sunday at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge of complications from a fall. She was born May 7, 1921, in Boxholm, the daughter of Floyd and Edna Freeman. She married Vernon Herbert Clausen Nov. 7, 1938, in Ogden.
She was a baptized and confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm and graduated from Boxholm High School with the class of 1938. She participated in school, church and community activities and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She lived on the family farm in Grant Township until entering Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton in October of 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in July of 1979; and one infant brother. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Laughlin of Westminster, CO; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Roberta Clausen of Boxholm, Ray and Sharon Clausen of Grand Junction and Jay and JoAnn Clausen of Boxholm; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jayne and David Hansen of Iowa City, Janine and Jerry Magnuson of Ames, Mark and Emily Clausen of Boxholm, Gary and Ann Clausen of Ogden, Bryan Clausen of St. Cloud, MN, Jill Clausen of Ames, Erik Laughlin of Ketchum, ID, Inga and Mark Henderson of Westminster, CO, and Ann and Terry Bates of Tallahassee, FL; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm with the Rev. Richard Jessen officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm.
Friends may call at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
