Funeral services for Mary E. West, 83, Ogden, were Monday, May 1, 2006 at Carson Funeral Home, Ogden, with Rev. Richard Boatman officiating.

Mrs. West died Thursday, April 27 at Boone County Hospital.

Mary Bass was born Aug. 25, 1922 at Dayton, the daughter of Archie O. and Mary Elizabeth (Herrick) Bass. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" West Oct. 3, 1940 at Princeton, Mo. The couple farmed north of Ogden for 58 years. Mary moved into Ogden in 2000. William passed away July 27, 2000.

Mary was a member of Community United Methodist Church, and McGraw Senior Citizens Center, Ogden.

Survivors include a son Roger and his wife Vickie West of Ogden; a daughter, Judy and her husband Daryl Morain of Ogden; two grandsons, Chad and his wife Ann West of Boxholm and Brent West of Des Moines; two granddaughters, Kalene and her husband Rick Summerville of Salisbury, Mo., and Karla and her husband Matt Bott of Highland Ranch, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren, Jake and Luke West, Jade, Amber and Brooke Summerville, and Cole and Cale Bott; one sister, Elenora Countryman of Guthrie Center; and one sister-in-law, Mary Swigert of Boone. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William West; 10 brothers and sisters; and a great grandson, A.J. Summerville.

Interment was at Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Carson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
