J. Elmer Lundquist, 78, a retired transportation officer with the International Monetary Fund, died of pulmonary edema Sept. 21 at his home in Boone, Iowa.

He joined the IMF in 1947, and retired in 1965. He had been responsible for the travel arrangements for numerous conferences in this country and abroad.

Mr. Lundquist was born in Boone. He started work there with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Later he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, and came to its Washington offices about 1937.

During World War II, Mr. Lundquist was an officer in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps.

He had retured to Boone from Washington five years ago.

He is survived by two sisters, Elvina Williams, of Boone, and Agnes Wells, of Story City, Iowa.
