Will

I, Edward Godfrey of the County Of Boone and State of Iowa, being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament,hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time made.
I give devise and bequeath all of my property, real and personal moneys and credits, which I may own at the time of my death, as follows. That is to say:

Part 1st. To my wife, Martha Ellen Godfrey, I will and give to my said wife, all of the property which I shall own at the time of my death, to be hers to have, to hold and use to and for her own benfit, during her life, in matter as she may see fit.

Part 2nd. After the death of my said wife, Martha Ellen Godfrey, it is my will that all my property remaining shall be divided or sold and divided equally among my children as follows:
Mary Elizabeth McGuire,Sarah Ida Hill, Estella Luella Beasley, James William Godfrey, John Edward Godfrey, the heirs of Servigney Godfrey deceased, Albert Godfrey, Carrie Ellen Thrap, Lillie Mae Stover, Chads Godfrey and Zylph Godfrey.

Part 3rd:

I will and give to Mabel Clara Pepples, daughter of Flora Bell Godfrey, deceased, the sum of one dollar, as her full share of my property.

Part 4th:

It is my will that in the division of my said property, that nine hundred dollars to be deducted from the share of my son, John Edward Godfrey, which sum I already advanced to him.

Part 5th: It is also my will that in the division of my property that nine hundred and fifty dollars be deducted from the shares of the heirs of my deceased son, Servigney Godfrey, which has been advanced to him.

Part 6th: It is also my will that in the division of my property, the sum of six hundred and twenty eight dollars be deducted from the share of my son, James William Godfrey which sum has been advanced to him.

Part 7th: It is also my will that in the division of my property, the sum of two thousand dollars be deducted from the share of my son, Chads Godfrey which sum was already advanced to him.

Part 8th It is also a part of my will, that if any of my said heirs shall raise any objections to this, my last will and testament, he or she , as the case may be shall be cut off from having any part in my estate.
Part 9

I hereby nominate my wife, Martha Ellen Godfrey, above named to be the executrix of this my last will and testament, without bonds.

In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament, consisting of three sheets of paper. Subcribe my name this 14th day of January 1921.

We hereby certify that on the 14th day of January 1921, at the town of Madrid, Boone County,Iowa. Edward Godfrey to us personally known did in our presence sign the foregoing instrument and declare the same to be his last will and testament and we at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other do here unto subcribe our names and witnesses thereto: F.
