C McPherson, master mechanic at the Northwestern Railroad shops, was born on the Atlantic Ocean on February 13, 1829, his parents were natives of Scotland in his youth he learned the trade of machinist and has followed it as an occuptaion until the present time, in 1852 he emigrated to the United States and settled in Chicago, and worked in the leading shops of hte city, he was with the Galena Railroad company four years, and seven years in the employ of Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, and then engaged with the Northwestern Railroad, and has worked his way to his present position, he is a good illustration of what in industrious man can accomplish by giving his time and attention to one subject, and his example is a worthy one for the young men of Boone county to imitate, his capability and knowledge of his business as a thorough mechanic may be inferred from the postion he holds, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Glover in March 1851, she was born in Scotland : their family consits of four children: Charles (who has charge of company's shop in Council Bluffs), James ( a Partner of L D Cook, Boone counties oldest dealer in geral merchandise), John and Maggie
