KETCHUM

D C Ketchum, jeweler, Boone, was born in Lorain county, Ohio, in 1816 and lived there until seven years of age, then removing to Massachusetts, he learned the jeweler's trade, and has worked at it as an occupation more or less since that time, he came to Illinois and settled in Marengo, McHenry county, and live there two years, and thence to Elgin, Illinois and remained there three years, and after a residence of four or five years in Freeport, removed to Wisconsin, where he live twelve years, he came to this county in 1863, and while he has been engaged in his chosen calling, he has devoted a great deal of time and attention to the raising of fine horses, and in which he has been very successful, and the county is largely indebted to him for the reputation it has for the improvement made in its fine grade of road horses, he was married to Miss C Cummings in 1844, she was a native of Massachusetts, they have one daughter: Josephine (now Mrs James McIntosh)
