John F Crouse farmer and stock-raiser; Sec 18 P O Boone; was born in Tuepingen, Wartemberg, Germany, December 13th, 1828, he was raised there and came to America when twenty-four years of age, and learned the carpenter's trade in New York and followed it for four years; he then went to Danville, Pennsylvania, and worked in a rolling mill; from there he removed to Williamsport and engaged at his trade; then came to Story county and put up the first building in the present town of Ontario, where he resided till he came to this county in 1858 and settled on Big Creek and came to his prsent farm, which now consists of 235 acres in 1864, he was married in Germany in 1852 to Miss Catharine C Myers; they have a family of eight children living: Sophia, Sarah, Kate, Caroline, Mary, John, Frederick and Charles; they have lost four: Frantz, and infant, Frank and Flora
