DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS

Lenno H. Brandt (army serial No. 43704), corporal, Company I, 16th Infantry, 1st Division. For extraordinary heroism in action near Fleveille, France, October 4, 1918. corporal Braandt, with one companion, advanced ahead of his organization, exposed to heavy fire, and silenced an enemy machine gun nest which had halted his company.

Residence at enlistment: Boone, Iowa
