M N Strickling, farmer Sec 22, P O Prairie Hill, was born in Seneca county, Ohio, September 6, 1836, and was there raised on a farm, receiving his education from the common schools and Heidelberg College at Tiffin, Ohio, in 1857 he moved to La Salle county, Illinois, and after two years returned to Ohio, and in 1859 came to Benton county this state and remained about two years, in September 1861, he enlisted in company A, Thirty-eighth Ohio Infantry, and served until April 1862, when he was discharged on account of disability, in September 1863, he re-enlisted in company I, Ninth Ohio cavalry, and served until the close of the war and was honorably discharge in July 1865, he was married May 5, 1869 to Miss Rowena May, of Jo Davies county, Illinois, there family consists of three children: Charles W, Freddie F, and Florence M, he owns 135 acres of land
