Eric G Anderson was born in Animskog parish, Efsbork, Sweden in Sept of 1831. He was raised and educated in his native land and was there married in 1852 to Mary Stina Anderson. She was born in Stenby, Sweden on Oct 27, 1830, the daughter of Andrew Anderson.
Mr and Mrs Anderson were the parents of eight children, all born in Sweden and all named Erickson and not Anderson. They were: Mrs Charley B (Sophia) Carlson (1853-1916), Mrs John A (Anna S) Peterson (1856-1911), Andrew Erickson (1858-1935), Mrs Elizabeth Simpson, Mrs Carrie Olson, Carl Erickson (died before 1900), Fred Erickson (1872-1953), and Mrs William (Amanda) Anderson (1875-1943). All the children came to this country except Carl who is buried in Sweden. .The others are all buried in the Boxholm Cemetery except Elizabeth and Carrie.
Mr and Mrs Anderson came to this country in 1882 with their two youngest children, Fred and Amanda. They at first settled in the Dayton, Iowa area but came to Grant Township about 1888 and settled in Section 20. Here Mr Anderson purchased 80 acres (W1/2 of SE ¼) and spent the remainder of his years. Mr and Mrs Anderson were charter members of the Boxholm Lutheran Church, joining on Feb 13, 1886.
Mr Anderson died on March 2, 1912, aged 80 years and Mrs Anderson died on Feb 28, 1914, , aged 83 years. Both are buried in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery east of Boxholm. The home place land passed into the hands of their youngest daughter Amanda, who with her husband farmed it for quite a few years. It is currently owned by Florence Freeman and occupied by Gary Henrichs. Descendants still residing within Grant Township are a grandson, Leonard Erickson and a great grandson, Loren “Fred” Erickson and family.
