Levi Emerson, farmer, Sec 24, P O Mineral Ridge, was born in Delaware county, Ohio, November 20, 1830, and was raised here at farming as an occupation, he received his early education I the schools of his native commonwealth, which he supplemented with a course at the Ohio Central University, of Columbus, that state, he then engaged in teaching, and in 1855 he came out and entered a quarter section of land in this township, but only remained a short time, and returned and in 1856 came back and permanently located n this county, his present home consists of 160 acres of well improved land, which he has occupied since ,1865, he served one term as superintendent of the public schools of this county, and as also a member of the board of supervisors, when there was one from each township, he was married in 1860 to Miss Priscilla Richey, a native of Ohio, and a lady of education and refinement, and one of the pioneer teachers of this part of the state, they have one son and one daughter living: Mary and Lloyd, and one deceased: Rosa, his father was of the Scotch origin, his mother was born in the fort at Marietta, and was supposed to the first child born therein, her name was Stacey and her grandfather was an officer in the Revolutionary War
