A H Mertz, butcher, Ogden, was born in Berks county, Pennsylvania, October 11, 1836, and was raised there , in April 1866, he came to Iowa, locating in Jones county, three years later he came to Ogden, and has been engaged in business here for five years, he being the oldest one in his line in the town, he married in Pennsylvania, September 15, 1860, Miss Susanna High, a native of that state, they have three sons and two daughters: Orlando, Catharine A, Irvin, Mary M, and Ezra T
