R F Smalley, farmer and stock-raiser, Sec 10 P O, Boone, was born in Illinois, December 12, 1842, and at the age of six years moved with his parents to Ohio, in the spring of 1854 he came to Iowa and remained in this state until 1857, when he moved to Missouri, three months later he returned to Iowa and commenced school, and in 1862 commenced arming, the year following he went to Minnesota, there followed farming and in 1867, came to this county, where he got a position as teamster, in 1869 he bought a fine farm of 120 acres of well improved land, he was married in Boone, March 23, 1868, to Miss Ellen E Bentley, they have two children: Albert R and Emma
