John W Wilcox, farmer, Sec 10 P O Ogden, was born in Warren county, Indiana, April 9, 1840, and at the age of seven years his parents, Isaac and Nancy Wilcox, moved to Henderson county, Illinois, where our subject was raised, lived there until 1868, when he came to this county, since residing here, moved on his present farm in 1869, owning 80 acres of land, Married in 1865 to Miss Mary A, daughter of John and Silva Williams, of Ogden, they have four children living: Theodore, Joseph L, and Orlo and Narvello (twins), lost two Flora and Lettie E, Mr W enlisted during the late war in company B Ninety-first Illinois infantry, and served for two years, discharged for general disability, participated in the battle of Vicksburg and at the battles of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was taken prisoner, was exchanged the July following , Mrs Wilcox is a member of the M E Church
