E Slater, capitalist, Boone was born in Madison county, New York, on July 2, 1808, and was raised there in early life on a farm, he learned the trade of chair-making and painting, in 1829, he removed to Buffalo and followed building as an occupation, he married Miss Emaline Topliff in 1831, she was born in Windsor county, Vermont, Mrs. Slater died in July 1869, leaving two daughters: Abby M and Angela E T after the death of his wife, owing to the impaired health of his daughter, he thought it advisable to make a temporary change, and so came West, and after a short residence in Boone became so well pleased he has remained and although he has made several visits to his old home he is always glad to return to his adopted State, where he has important interests.
