T J Savage, Boone is one of the oldest employees of the Chicago & Northwestern RR and at the present time passenger engineer on the western division, was born in Ireland on November 23, 1840, and emigrated to the United States in 1845 and settled at Dubuque, when he was seventeen years of age his parents went to farming, and he assisted in the management of the farm for two years, and then learned the trade of blacksmith, serving three years, April 1, 1864, he enlisted in the war and served until his regiment was mustered out, the same years he came to Clinton and commenced firing on an engine, and continued until he was promoted to his present position, he has been connected with the road for sixteen years, he married Miss Anna O’Connor on February 9, 1867, she was born in Lyons, Iowa, they have two children living: Lewis P, and Sadie C they have lost three: Johnny, Eugene, and Frank
