RITES FOR WILLIAM WEIDEN AT GILBERTVILLE FRIDAY
William Weiden, 79, passed away at his home two miles north of Washburn at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1939. He had been in failing health since last September.

He was born in Neunkirchen, Germany, Dec. 13, 1859. He married Mary Kraus in Germany and they came to America July 4, 1882. They lived at LaSalle, Illinois, for ten years. In 1891, they settled on a farm near Gilbertville in Black Hawk County, Iowa, and he has lived in that vicinity since.

His wife and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Thome preceded him in death.

Ten children survive as follows: Frank, Grace and Nick, at home; John, route 5, Waterloo; William at Raymond; Mrs. John Reuter, Dunkerton; Henry and Mrs. Leo Hogan, Jesup; and Andrew at La Porte City.

Solemn requiem mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at Gilbertville at 9:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Father Cremer officiating. Burial will be at Gilbertville.
