RAYMOND'S OLDEST MAN DIES

Charles N. Wingert, 93, the oldest resident of the Raymond community, died at Allen Convalescent home at 5:30 a.m. Monday of complications incident to advanced age.

He is survived by 154 descendants.

He was born in Lester Twp. on July 26, 1866, the son of Michael and Kathryn Diebold Wingert. He resided during his entire life on a farm one and one-half miles south of Raymond.

He married Margaret Ehr on October 11, 1890, at Raymond. She died 2-15-1941. Mr. Wingert was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Raymond and the Rosary Society.

Surviving are five sons, George of Raymond; John of Good Thunder, Minnesota; Matt at home; Charles of Monticello, Minnesota; and Joseph of Arlington; three daughters, Mrs. Anton Krebsbach of Stacyville; Mrs. Ben Adams of Stacyville; Mrs. Harold Pint of Raymond; 45 grandchildren and 101 great grandchildren.

He was preceded by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Teresa Bonefas, seven sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raymond with Rev. Donald Sweeney, pastor, officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Oppold Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home until 3 p.m. Tuesday, when the body will be taken to the family home near Raymond.
