Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church for John P. Sondag, 76, a resident of Gilbertville, who died at St. Francis hospital at 8 p.m. Friday of complications of age.

The Rev. Kenneth Ryan, pastor, will officiate. Rosary services will be at 7:30 and 8 p.m. today and tomorrow and also at 3 p.m. tomorrow, all at the Oppold Funeral Home.

Mr. Sondag was born on March 29, 1891, the son of John and Catherine Federspiel Sondag, at Gilbertville. He married Margaret Ehr at Gilbertville on April 23, 1913. He worked on the WCF&N Railroad for 32 years, retiring in 1957. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Gilbertville and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Schmit, of Gilbertville; Mrs. Leo Fischels, of Gilbertville; Mrs. Martin Sweerin, 921 Headford Ave; one son Lawrence Sondag of Raymond; one brother, Nick of Gilbertville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
