SCHONS, BOVEY, BOVY, THEIS

Funeral services for Peter J. Schons, 79, of Gilbertville, who died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis hospital after a stroke, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception church, Gilbertville.

The Rt. Rev. William Cremer will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the O'Keefe & Towne funeral home, and another at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the family home in Gilbertville.

Mr. Schons was born on August 18, 1879, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Nicholas and Anna Thies Schons, and came to Eagle Center when he was about 12. On January 14, 1903, he married Mary K. Bovy in Eagle Center, where he farmed until about 1938. Since then he had been in the real estate business in Gilbertville.

Survivors are two sons, Gerald and Bernard Schons, both of Rt. 4, two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Mullen of La Porte, and Mrs. William Staebell of Jesup; four brothers, Nick Schons of 217 Linden Ave., Joseph Schons, of Rt. 2, Waterloo, William Schons of 301 Kothe St. and Arnold Schons of Los Angeles, Calif.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Lena Duffy of 315 Walnut Court, Mrs. Frank Kurtz of 612 Magnolia St., Mrs. Anna Bloes of 1231 W. 6th St., and Mrs. Mary Herrig of Lamont, 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
