Raymond---NICHOLAS LUTGEN, SR., 80, died Tuesday in St. Francis hospital at Waterloo after a lingering illness: born Jan. 21,1868, in Bursheid, Luxembourg, son of John and Elizabeth Lutgen: married Katherine Draut in February, 1895, in Luxembourg: came to America in 1900; farmed near Gilbertville two years, then came to their present farm east of Raymond; member of St Joseph Catholic Church here and was a Choir director for 42 year; leaves four sons and three daughters, Nicholas, JR., at home; John Route 1, Jesup; Mrs. William Heinen, La Porte City; Michael, 202 Maple Street, Waterloo; Mrs. Irvin Welck, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. John Nosko, 111 Linden Avenue, Waterloo; Ernest, Raymond; 34 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lutgen, Lamour, North Dakota; preceded in death by his wife, August 13, 1940, and by one grandson. Funeral is at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church; burial in church cemetery.
