Mrs. Matt Fischels, 83, died of a heart attack Friday at 7:30 a.m. at her home at Gilbertville.
A native of Germany, she was born Cunegunda Herrmann Dec. 25, 1873, daughter of Andrew and Ottillia Ickle Herrmann, and came to the United States when 21 years old.
She was married Jan. 21, 1903, at Independence, to Matt Fischels and lived all her married life in Black Hawk county. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church at Gilbertville.
Surviving Mrs. Fischels besides her husband are a son, Andrew, of 309 Linden Ave., and a daughter, Sister Mary Adorine, of the Franciscan Order of Sisters who is a member of the nursing staff at St. Francis Hospital here.
The body of Mrs. Fischels will be taken from the O'Keefe and Towne Funeral home to the home of the son, Andrew, Saturday afternoon.
Funeral services are planned Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Gilbertville Immaculate conception church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. William Kremer officiating and burial in the church cemetery.
