FUNERAL MONDAY IN GILBERTVILLE FOR G. GOLINVAUX

Lived in Waterloo 30 Years Before Moving To California

Funeral for Gus Golinvaux, 82, an early-day resident of the Washburn community, will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA.

Golinvaux, who lived in Waterloo about 30 years after retiring from his Cedar township farm, died Wednesday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. P. O'Connor, Oakland, Cal. The body was to arrive at Ray Hurley funeral home here last night and will be taken this afternoon to the home of another daughter, Mrs. W. B. Schares, in Gilbertville.

Born Jan 1, 1850 in Dubuque, IA., he was a son of August and Mary Golinvaux, who were married in France and came to the United States in the summer of 1854. the family moved from New Orleans, IA to Dubuque in 1857, and to the Washburn vicinity in 1868.

MARRIED IN GILBERTVILLE

He was married in Gilbertville Oct. 30, 1883, to Ida Butterfield, who died Dec. 27, 1903. After he retired from farming about 1905, he moved to Waterloo to live with a son, Fred J. Golinvaux, 516 Rhey Street. About six years ago, he moved to California to live with Mrs. O'Connor.

Surviving are another son, Herbert A. Golinvaux, Oakland, Cal; three daughters, Mrs. O'Connor, Mrs. Schares, and sister Mary Frances Clare of Marcus, IA; 17 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Out of his family of nine, only a brother, August, of Dubuque survives.

SON IN I. C. WRECK

The oldest son, August F. Golinvaux, died May 29, 1918, in the wreck of an Illinois Central train, on which he was fireman, near Applington, IA. Two other children, Mark and Consulana, died in infancy.

Rev. William Cremer will say requiem mass, and burial will be in Gilbertville.

Grandsons serving as casket bearers will be Fred J. Golinveaux, jr., Paul Schares, Lavern Trainor, Jim Schares, Ermin Olinger and William Weber.
