Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church in Gilbertville for Nick Fischels, Sr., 84, of Gilbertville, who died about 9:15 a.m. yesterday at his home of a heart attack.
The Rev. Kenneth Ryan, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Oppold funeral home at 3, 7:30, and 8 p.m. both today and tomorrow with the 8 p.m. one today by the Holy Name Society and the one at 8 p.m. tomorrow by the parish.
Mr. Fischels was born Feb. 22, 1883 in Fox Twp, the son of Michael and Elizabeth Brick Fischels. He married Barbara Bovy on 4-6-1910, in Gilbertville.
He farmed in the Gilbertville area until he retired in 1952 and moved into Gilbertville. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Holy Name Society.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by seven sons, Joseph, Sr., Raphael, and Kenneth, all of Rt. 1, Jesup; Leo, William, and Nicholas, Jr., of Gilbertville; and Roman, of La Porte City; a daughter, Mrs. John Schmit, Rt. 4; 37 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
