APOPLEXY HAS FATAL ENDING

Peter Ehr Of Raymond Died Today, Aged 78 Years

Settled With His Wife In Poyner Township In The Year 1865
Raymond, IA, April 15 (Special)
Peter Ehr, a pioneer resident of Poyner township, who was stricken with apoplexy while in the Julian hotel in Waterloo seven weeks ago, passed away at 2 o'clock this morning at the home of his son, John Ehr, near here. The funeral services will be held from the Catholic Church at Gilbertville at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Ehr was 78 years of age.
Born in Oberwers, Germany, on March 15, 1832, Mr. Ehr spent his boyhood and young manhood days in the fatherland. In 1862, he was married and that year he and his bride came to America, settling in Joliet, Ill. Three years later they came to Iowa, settling on a farm south of Raymond, in Poyner Township. For forty-five years, they lived in this community and gained a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Ehr passed away Jan 16, 1904. Since her death Mr. Ehr has been living with his children.
Nine children were born to the couple, of whom six survive. They are Mrs. Margarete Wester of Gilbertville; Mrs. Mary O'Connell of Raymond, Mrs. Elizabeth Wingert of Conastola, S. D.; Mrs. Susan Webber of Independence, Geroge Ehr of Sauk Center, S. D. and John Ehr of Raymond.
