William Bovy, 72, of 1637 Lafayette street, died yesterday at 1:35 a.m. of a heart ailment in St. Francis hospital, where he had been a patient since last Tuesday.

Solemn requiem mass will be conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Carl Ruhland and Rev. Fr. Cecil McSweeney, both assistant pastors at the church and Rev. Fr. Raymond Duffy, pastor of St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at Eagle Center, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel Catholic cemetery at Eagle Center. The Rosary Society of St. John's Catholic Church will meet both Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. in O'Keefe and Towne funeral home to recite the rosary.

Born November 23, 1875, at Eagle Center, William Bovy was the son of Peter and Catherine Bovy.
He married Miss Rose Funfsinn on February 10, 1903 at Peterstown, Illinois.

The couple farmed in Orange Twp. until five years ago, when he retired and they moved to Waterloo.
He was a member here of St. John's Catholic Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Albert, Route 6, and Raymond, Route 6; five daughters: Mrs. Emma Conrad, 313 Glenwood Street, Mrs. Stella Fischels, 1520 Franklin Street, Mrs. Louise Renner, 1222 Williston Avenue, Mrs. Dorothy Weber, Route 1, and Mrs. Magdalen Schmitz, Raymond, Iowa; one brother, Henry, 1026 Washington Street; five sisters: Mrs. Mary Schons, Mrs. Anna Fischels and Mrs. Barbara Fischels, all of Gilbertville, Iowa, Mrs. Margaret Frost, Hoven, S. D., and Mrs. Katherine Fischels, Independence, Iowa and 28 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Pfc. Walter O., who was killed in action in Germany March 30, 1945; another son and a daughter, both of whom died in infancy, and two grandchildren.
