Evalyn Ashline, age 101, passed away on May 16th at The Shores in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
Evalyn was born on October 12, 1923, to Otto and Minnie Weltzin near LaPorte City, Iowa. In 1941 she married Ervin Jurgens and had 2 children, Larry and Pamela. Larry was killed in an auto accident in June 1962 and Ervin passed away in January 1974. She married Milton Ashline in September of 1987. He had 5 children. His oldest son, Kevin, passed away from cancer in December of 2005, and Milton passed away in October 2012.
Evalyn lived in Waterloo, Iowa, most of her life. She and Ervin owned and operated The Tribune Press in Waterloo with another partner for several years. After that partnership dissolved, she worked at Matt Parrot Printing Company in Waterloo for over 25 years, serving as Vice President for 10 years before retiring in August of 1991. In 2015 she moved into The Shores in Pleasant Hill to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. She lived there very happily for 10 years.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Dean) Miller, step-children Ranee (Dave) Poock, Keith (Sandy) Ashline, Eric (Shelly) Ashline, Kent (Karla) Ashline, Jessica Ashline (Kevin's wife), sister Marie Jean Welter, brother Ronald Weltzin, brother Roger (Jessie) Weltzin, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren with another on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest in the Garden of Memories in Waterloo beside Ervin and son, Larry.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, June 2 at 1:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa, where she remained a member until her passing.
