WATERLOO -- M. Margaret Kirsch, 83, of 155 E. Ridgeway, died Thursday, April 11, at Covenant Medical Center of renal failure. She was born November 12, 1918, in Eagle Center, daughter of Peter and Nellie Schumisch Kirsch. Margaret lived on a farm near Eagle Center until 1955. She then resided in La Porte City, until 1963, when she moved to Waterloo. She was a member of St. Edward's Parish. Margaret was the aunt extraordinaire to several generations! She is survived by four nephews, James McGarvey of Eagle Center, Tom McGarvey of Des Moines, Wayne McGarvey of Eagle Center and William Kirsch of Waterloo; five nieces, Margaret Steffen of Dunkerton, Mary Weber of Virginia, Minn., Paula Ladage of Cedar Rapids, Beth Taylor of Hazel Green, Wis., and Mary Seda of Hudson. She kept herself young by keeping up with 43 great nieces and nephews, 48 great-great nieces and nephews and four great-great-great nieces and nephews. She had the ability to make each of us feel special and the many family gatherings and quiet visits won't be the same without her. She was preceded in death by her father in 1962, her mother in 1974, her brother, Walter Kirsch, in 1961, and her sister, Blanche McGarvey, in 1988. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Eagle Center. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Edward's Catholic Church or Don Bosco High School.
